Our mission has always been to rise above the upsetting and often scary practices employed by major dog food brands in their choice of unhealthy and sometimes downright dangerous ingredients. Our Story - the big little bug that started it all
So who is Snack Baby, and what inspired us start our own healthy dog treat brand? Our story begins with a furry ball of joy named Paget. Paget, or 'Buggy' as he is often called, is our French Mastiff (who looks a bit like a bug), and we love him more than words can express.
Today he is a happy, energetic picture of health, but this wasn’t always the case. As a young puppy, Buggy was plagued with endless health issues. His coat was patchy, dry, and stinky. His ears were red, swollen, and infected. His skin was covered with welts that left him scratching constantly, making him grumpy, uncomfortable, and unhappy. Oh, and his breath was reminiscent of a desert fish market.
Endless vet visits, but no relief!
With each vet visit we became more concerned. They would prescribe him medicated shampoos, ointments, and drops. Each time we applied them his conditions would improve slightly, only to return even worse than before.
One thing was becoming clear - we were treating his symptoms, and ignoring the cause.
Out of desperation, we threw all those nasty chemicals in the garbage, and started investigating the food and treats we were feeding him. What we found was disturbing, to say the least!
These often well-reviewed 'healthy' dog foods and treats were filled with added sugar, preservatives, and unhealthy fillers.
Searching For a Solution
Thus began our journey of intensive study, sourcing natural ingredients, and performing endless trials to perfect our recipes. As we started feeding Buggy our creations, we watched as his skin, ears, and breath steadily improved. His coat was shining, his energy and mood lifted, and his visible excitement at meal and snack times let us know we were on the right track.
Two years and thousands of treats later, we had our recipes nailed down, and Buggy was thriving like never before! Buggy now gets compliments everywhere we go, and vets often confess their amazement at just how healthy he is. We feel great knowing exactly what we are (and aren't) feeding our beloved snack baby, and wanted to share this gift of pet health and longevity with the world.
Snack Baby is born!
As we spoke with fellow pet parents, we couldn't believe how many pups shared a similar story. Dog allergies and health issues continue to rise, and often times the pharmaceutical solutions proposed by the mainstream pet industry simply mask the symptoms without addressing the cause. We decided something had to be done, and started sharing our treats with fellow pet parents. The feedback was amazing, and the recovery stories inspired us to start our own natural dog treat company. With that, Snack Baby was born, and we've been on a mission to nurture the health and wellbeing of our furry companions ever since.
At Snack Baby, we're all about wholesome snacks packed with nutrient-dense superfoods, probiotics, and omega-3s. Our treats are legume and gluten-free, without any unhealthy fillers or added sugars. We use freeze drying to naturally preserve flavour and nutrients without the use of nasty chemicals.
Our mission - one we take very seriously - is to share the health and wellbeing Buggy enjoys with the world, so that every snack baby can live a long and healthy life. We know your pup will love our healthy nutritious dog treats, and couldn't be more excited to share them with you!
